Fall play opens tonight

By Lauren Ring

The Master’s University’s (TMU) fall semester play, “Emma,” opens tonight in the Music Recital Hall. “Emma,” based on the classic Jane Austen novel, centers on Emma Woodhouse, whose matchmaking abilities land her in several romantic misadventures.

Emma Bird, a junior, has loved working with TMU Theatre Productions in Spring of 2023 as well. As a sophomore, she worked in hospitality and, in this production, she works with the properties crew.

“It’s about a young woman who thinks of herself as a matchmaker … and she goes on many adventures along with that,” Bird said. “She’s also very sarcastic and witty with the characters as well as the audience. It’s so easy to listen to her and just laugh out loud!”

Since Bird works behind the scenes, she has the opportunity to see the love of the cast members with each other as the story comes to life.

“If not for the acting side, come see it for the production side and see the amount of work everyone has put into it… The whole thing is amazing,” Bird said.

Performances will take place Oct. 20, 21 and 27, 28. Tickets are available at master.edu/theatre-arts.
